A day in the life
       
 

What can you expect a day to be like as a consultant at Venn Group? Well…

Your day
There is no such thing as an ordinary or repetitive day in the fast moving world of recruitment, only full and rewarding ones. As you settle in for an 8.30 start, you can look forward to a varied and quite possibly hectic day. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to predict exactly what you will be doing, but you will certainly be challenged, put through your paces, learn a lot, have a laugh, and make an important contribution to the business.

Your daily tasks
You’ll be expected to perform a whole range of roles, often balancing several tasks at the same time while keeping your eye – and control - on all of them. You’ll be managing your client and candidate portfolio, while helping develop new business through cold and warm calling of potential leads. You will support your team in building relationships with a wide range of people, promoting Venn Group as the specialists in professional temporary recruitment. You will interview candidates in our offices, you will meet your clients in their premises, you will win business through tender pitches and manage the accounts of your clients. If this sounds daunting because you are entering recruitment for the first time, we can assure that it won’t be. The support and training we offer will help introduce and develop you in the role, to which your personality and strengths are well suited.

Your team
Teams are one of Venn Group’s most important assets. Working closely together, teams share tasks, understand each other’s accounts, and support and cover each other when necessary. By holding three reviews a day, you pool ideas, find client solutions, herald successes and air and share any problems you may encounter. This team approach means Venn Group rewards on a team basis, although recognition is given for individual effort. In your first few months you will learn an awful lot about the job from being at your desk with your team.

Your training
This ‘on-the-job’ learning is complemented by a formal training programme, aimed at equipping you with the skills to become one of the best consultants in the market. With a dedicated training resource and many courses run by our team leaders and managers, in your first year alone you’ll get over 10 days of courses and formal training. Our long-term commitment to your development equates to a minimum of 3 days of training for every year you are with us. Career progression is certainly attainable, in the form of promotion to executive consultant to team leader and beyond, for those who want and work at it. You
With these two important props to help you settle into the role, we are confident enough to put you in the front line within days of joining. The role is yours because your character and skills suit the job. Almost immediately you will be asked to use your excellent communication skills, your ability to think on your feet, your calm reaction to pressure and your tenacity to approach the role with passion and professionalism. You will quickly take charge of giving clients and candidates the results they seek and the best service available in the market.

Your socialising
By 6pm you will have had a very full and rewarding day. One evening a week you will work as a team catching up with people that you need to speak to and review your workloads. Time then for the social life; you and everyone else will get together for a few beers and mull over the finer points of recruitment, or better still, forget about it all, have a good laugh and relax.
