For most backpackers, the thought of eventually settling down with a 9 to 5 (or 8 to 6 for us recruiters) can be quite unnerving.

You’ve spent the past few months dancing around South East Asia’s beaches, hiking active volcanoes in Indonesia and diving the Great Barrier Reef. Now it’s time to get serious.

Long hours and a corporate environment mean a career in recruitment might not be the obvious choice for the free spirited. Yet the general consensus around Venn Group’s Leeds office is “work hard, travel hard”.

So far this year, we’ve collectively ventured to 5 continents, 28 countries and 13 capital cities; with many more expeditions on the horizon. From drinking pina coladas in Puerto Rico to mingling with the stars in Hollywood, we know how to switch off and enjoy a well earned break.

In June 2017 UK residents made 7.2 million visits abroad; an increase of 4% when compared with June 2016. (Office for National Statistics- Leisure and Tourism). – Which means as a nation we are traveling more than ever! Every time I go to make a cup of tea, I hear tales of new adventures.

If you’re still not convinced that recruitment can fulfil your dream to travel the world, then head to LinkedIn. You don’t have to scroll far to see recruiters offering the chance to live and work in exotic places all over the world. Whether its Dubai, Sydney, the USA, or Singapore, recruitment is a universal skill and a career that can take you to each corner of the globe.

So if you thought getting a job would mean hanging up your hiking boots for good… A career in recruitment could be for you.
