Shukokai Karate Federation National Championships 2018 Results

Last Saturday Sophie took part in the Shukokai Karate Federation (SKF) Championships and she came home with a medal. Here is her update.

I competed in four events throughout the day starting with the Adults Team Kata Event in which, along with my two teammates from Portway SKF Club, we claimed the Bronze Medal against some tough competition (and just narrowly missed out on the finals to my coaches team!). The second event was the Ladies Adult Individual Kata where unfortunately I was less successful losing in the first round but was pleased with my performance and have lots of areas for improvement from my coaches ahead of the World Championships in July. The afternoon saw the Kumite (fighting) events and after some very closely fought fights in the individual event I finished in 4th place just outside of the medals; I repeated this result in the Adults Mixed Team Kumite event where we also finished in 4th place.

I am going to continue training hard now until the next competition which is the Kent Summer Open Championships on 12th May 2018 – I look forward to keeping you all updated along the way!

Thanks once again to Venn Group for sponsoring me for this event and the Shukokai Karate Federation for their continued support.
