Yesterday, Michael Attwood celebrated his ten years at Venn Group with Philip Hanna and Deirdra Moynihan, at CUT at 45 Park Lane.
We asked him about his time at Venn Group:
What has been your proudest achievement at Venn Group so far?
Having spent so many years working directly with line managers and recruiters, my proudest achievement has always been working with clients we haven’t managed to previously and developing them into multi-users. One time in particular, we secured business from a Housing Association after I shadowed a Housing Officer for two days, accompanying them on tenancy inspections and neighbourhood walk-abouts.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
There are three bits of advice I have kept with me throughout my time with Venn Group. The first being, “You will never find out the information you need without picking up the phone”.
The second was that “No hiring manager, Director or Chief Executive is above talking to you”. Yes, senior managers are busy people, but they are not above having a consultative conversation.
The third and possibly, most important was “Don’t be weird around your clients” .
What do you enjoy the most about working at VG?
A cliché perhaps, but the best thing about working at Venn Group has been the people; my colleagues, managers, clients and candidates. In no other business do I feel you could get such exposure to so many varied and interesting people from all walks of life. I’ve had amazing support throughout my time here, and I really hope the next 10 years are as good!
