Supporting Charities

Venn Group is a passionate advocate of the importance of giving back, evidenced by our commitment to supporting our employees’ charitable activities. At the core of this is our corporate ‘charity of the year’ initiative.

Over the years we have raised significant amounts of money as a company for extremely worthy causes, with last year’s total for Cancer Research UK reaching £28,000. The enthusiasm of our staff in supporting the corporate charity is heightened because they are solely responsible for nominating and voting on the recipient, which in 2019 is homelessness charity, Shelter. Furthermore, every office has a representative that sits on our charity committee, which is responsible for planning fundraising events throughout the year for their colleagues. These include everything from bake sales, participation in challenge events to our much anticipated annual company charity day.

However, our involvement with charity goes beyond just fundraising. An example of this is our work with the Young Women’s Trust (YWT). This charity supports and represents women aged between 16-30, who are struggling to live on low or no pay in England and Wales. One of their main focuses is on career progression, which makes it an obvious partnership for Venn Group. As part of this, we had the pleasure of sponsoring the YWT Awards in February, which honours young women who have excelled against the odds. We specifically sponsored the Trailblazer award, presented to a woman who has achieved great things in a male dominated industry. In addition, we support the YWT ‘Work It Out’ feedback service, offering our skills as recruiters to advise and guide the job applications of their patrons, so that they have the best possible chance of securing work. In addition, we are pioneering a CV feedback scheme with Shelter in order to bring this benefit to their service users too. This type of support is a new venture for them, and our charity of the year partnership has proved to be the decisive factor in its introduction.

Both organisations have a national reach, which widens the scope of the benefit we can add and also enables every one of our regional offices to get involved and support their local programmes. Our philanthropic objectives run cohesively with those of our business, and we look forward to continuing our support of charities.
