Empowering Employment - Supporting Students

Our Empowering Employment initiative can be applied to any group of stakeholders who require, or would benefit from, guidance with regards to gaining employment. However, one specific demographic that fits this especially well is the student population.

Most universities offer dedicated Careers Services to support the employment aspirations of their students. However, as an external partner with almost two decades of experience recruiting to a variety of roles, we are well placed to offer an objective perspective and market insight through our Empowering Employment initiative.

Some of our clients in the education sector have already taken advantage of this offering, with one example being our participation in events with Regent’s University London. We sent three consultants to their careers fair to provide CV advice and discuss possible career routes with students. This particular fair was focused on Banking and Finance, so we sent representatives covering the financial services sector, public sector and a member of our Talent Acquisition team, to provide tailored expertise to attendees with varying goals. This was so well received by students, that we were asked to attend every year.

In addition, our Talent Acquisition team attend university careers fairs across the country. Not only are they able to inform students about the potential of a career in recruitment with Venn Group, but they are also well-equipped to provide general hints and tips for first time interviewees and graduate CVs.

Finally, taking our support of students further, members of our management team have signed up to take part in the Birkbeck University and University of Westminster’s Mentoring Pathways programme. Through this, they will impart their knowledge and experience of the recruitment market to advise students on how best to ascertain their career goals. This will run for half a year, with monthly face to face meetings and additional telephone and email support in between.

Not only does supporting students provide added value to our education client base, but it also allows us to play a real part in shaping the prospects of tomorrow’s workforce. We hope by equipping them with key skills, we can increase their employability and their own ability to bring impact to society as a whole.
