A decade with Venn Group was celebrated by Ben Dixon last week. As an integral part of our central and east office we asked Ben about his time at Venn Group and a few other questions to learn a bit more about him.
Give me an overview of your decade at Venn Group
My time so far at Venn Group has been very fulfilling. I have been given opportunities to build teams and develop staff which has not only moulded me into a recruitment professional but as a person as well. I joined Venn Group having never had an office based job before and through development and training I have now grown into one of the leading recruitment professional in my market. I look forward to seeing what the next ten years brings.
Which actor would you want to play you in a movie?
My wife keeps banging on about Jason Momoa so him, but would like him to take the role seriously and get his body into my condition. Shave his beard off and get a short back and sides and shrink about two feet. See if she likes him then!
Biggest achievement so far while working at Venn Group?
There have been a few notable memories of things I have achieved whilst being at Venn Group, but I think my biggest achievement has to be building the HR & Communications team in Milton Keynes from scratch and then being promoted to Manager.
Optimist or realist?
Realist. I am a bit of a control freak and like to know what is going to happen. Optimism can sometimes lead to uncertainty.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt while working at Venn Group?
Never give up. Recruitment is an emotional rollercoaster and can be a cruel beast at times, but as long as you keep picking up the phone and speaking to as many people as possible selling your product, you will always succeed in the end.
What’s your morning routine before work?
I have just recently added a new edition to my family (baby girl), so still learning my new morning routine, but before pre Covid-19 I would normally get up at 5.50am and go to the gym around the corner from the office. Then after the workout have a shower, get dressed, come to the office and eat my breakfast. Nothing interesting really.
Are you always late or always early?
I would say early or on time. I am never late!
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
I am going to break this up into two: Adult holiday with my wife: Dominican Republic. It’s just a beautiful tropical paradise. Best holiday I have ever had: Lads holiday to Magaluf - 2007. The complete opposite of Dominican Republic! (if you have been, you will know!)
What have you enjoyed most about working from home during lockdown?
So many choices for lunch that don’t involve me leaving the place of work.
Thank you Ben for your commitment, hard work and determination and we look forward hearing about your celebration of this milestone in the future.
