Adult Social Care & Education Lawyer – Initial 3 months – London – Full time
Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are currently working with a highly successful, busy Local Authority in London who are recruiting for an Adult Social Care & Education Lawyer to join their outstanding team.
This is a full-time assignment (35 hours), with the initial period 3 months and then a possibility to extend. This role will be worked on a fully remote basis, once IT equipment has been picked up in person, until September, with room for some form of flexibility thereafter.
This is an exciting opportunity for an admitted solicitor, a barrister or a legal executive, who will work under the leadership of the Senior Lawyer and Principal Lawyer to provide Legal advice and support on all matters relating to social care, education and public health law.
The ideal candidate will have a knowledge and understanding of the law and procedures relating to the Council’s adult social care, education and public health functions. It is essential that candidates have experience in these areas specifically, as they will deal personally with these matters:
- Conducting case work in all levels of court, issuing and defending proceedings on behalf of the Council and representing the council at court hearings undertaking advocacy, as appropriate
- Advising on strategic case management with a view to cost effectiveness
- Providing expert advice and assistance on the law and practice in relation to social care, education and public health matters including judicial review claims and information governance issues
- Developing and maintaining an expert knowledge of the law and practice in relation to social care, education and public health
The successful applicant will have a clear and systematic approach to problem solving, and the ability to communicate, supervise and support. The successful candidate will also have competent IT skills.
Prior local government experience is ideally required.
