Catering Services Manager

A position has arisen for a Temporary – ongoing Catering Manager within an established organisation. This role supports the management and delivery of the catering service throughout the organisation.
Your duties will include:
- Conducting staff appraisals in accordance with policy and managing staff sickness and absence in line with policy ensuring return to work interviews are undertaken in a timely manner, without exception, and are recorded
- Holding team meetings, briefing on a daily, weekly basis to improve service standards and to know requirements
- Supporting the Catering Manager in managing all catering services to deliver a high quality and cost-effective service that is responsive to the needs of the organisation
- Supporting the Catering Manager in communicating on all matters concerning all aspects of catering
- Assisting in the implementation, monitoring and review (in liaison with the Catering Manager) Codes of Practice, Procedures and Policies incorporating the principles of HACCP as necessary for all aspects of the Catering Service
- Providing weekly reports of food hygiene inspections of catering areas, detailing findings and recommendations to the Food Production Manager and/or Catering Manager
- Providing professional and technical leadership within the Catering Department
- Walking the floors daily particularly during service periods to ensure that excellent standards of food quality and service are being delivered
- Effectively managing the deployment of labour, annual leave, skill mix and sickness absence coverage to ensure the efficient use of staff to provide services in a cost-effective manner
- Ensuring that the catering service is in full compliance with food hygiene legislation and that the food safety system (HACCP) is in place and maintained up to date
- Ensuring that all Catering staff carry out their duties in a correct, efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with agreed employment policies
- Ensuring staff rosters are completed, costed and are effective
- Supporting the Catering Manager in developing and implementing a continual review of service and contracts, preparing returns as required
The successful candidate should have:
- Experience working in the catering industry
- Ability to manage a large workforce
- Strong understanding of food hygiene legislation and food safety systems (HACCP)
