Interim Communications Officer
Based in Essex, hybrid working
Length: 3-6 Months

We are supporting an Essex based council in recruiting a Communications Officer to join their dynamic and fast-paced team at a pivotal time in the organisation’s transformation journey. With devolution on the horizon and a renewed corporate vision, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful change and make a real impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Communications Officer:
- Support the implementation of the Council’s Communications Strategy internally
- Lead on the use of digital channels and social media, embedding a digital-first approach Write and implement a comms strategy
- Write a plan that aligns and supports the council’s People Powered approach and breathe life into the planned internal change programmes with the objective of providing context and a consistent narrative for staff as well as supporting staff to be part of the ‘journey’
- Provide some resilience to the internal comms function
- Work closely with Directorate change partners to support the delivery of key piece of organisational change projects and initiatives
Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Communications Officer:
- Previous and recent experience in a local government communications team is essential
- Extensive background in Corporate Communications
- A confident communicator who can operate effectively in a political environment
