Venn Group are supporting an excellent NHS Foundation Trust with the recruitment for an 8a Deputy Head of Clinical Coding to lead and manage a team of coders

Job summary
The clinical coders’ role is to abstract, analyse and translate clinical information for admitted patients into an internationally recognised coding classification using ICD-10 and OPCS4 classifications
This role supports the above by creating and delivering a Clinical Coding Quality Assurance service
This includes:
- Direct line management of the clinical coding assurance team
- Building and delivery of the Trust’s rolling programme of clinical coding audit and feedback
- Creation and delivery of coding awareness workshops for clinical teams and including junior doctors’ induction
- Responsibility for completeness of clinical coding validation exercises
- Using the post holder’s in-depth highly specialist knowledge and experience to provide expert clinical coding advice to groups within the Trust and to its external partners
- Overall responsibility for ensuring that all Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) requirements relevant to Clinical Coding are achieved to the highest possible level
The post holder will also support the Head of Clinical Coding in the leadership of the clinical coding department
- This includes:
- delivery of robust operational processes to ensure coding completeness to agreed data submission timetables
- management of the clinical coding function budget
- deputising for the Head of Clinical Coding
