Divisional Business Accountant (Band 8A)
Duration: Temporary 4 Months
Location: Greater Birmingham Area (Hybrid Working
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 Hours
Salary £28.02 - £32.27 per hour (Both inclusive of holiday pay)
An opening has arisen for a Divisional Business Accountant on a temporary basis in the greater Birmingham area. This position will require candidates who have a strong background of working in the NHS.
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position and be responsible for:
- Influence and advise Directors and Divisional teams on the implications of highly complex financial strategy and policy to ensure acceptance and adherence.
- Analyse and interpret business performance, model business opportunities and identify cost savings
- Monitor financial performance against agreed budgets and Trust strategies (such as service transformation programme) and advise on appropriate action to be taken
- Provide specialist and in-depth knowledge in the application of appropriate costing methodologies in accordance with best practice to the provision of operational management information, business cases, national reference costs and other statutory information requirements
- Plan and organise the budget setting
- Provide and present accurate and timely monthly business reports to Directors and Divisional teams
- Take the lead in the financial elements of preparation of Divisional business cases for the presentation to Board Sub Committees where appropriate
- Take responsibility for the provision of training and development of financial management to ensure that budget holders and managers can operate as effective and accountable managers of financial resources
- Responsible for responding to internal and external audit queries in areas that relate to the post holder’s responsibility
The successful candidate will have:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience of working in a similar role within the NHS
