Finance Officer (Income)
Duration: 6 weeks (with possibility of extension)
Location: London
Clearance Required: Basic DBS
A Central Government organisation is looking for a Finance Officer to manage the income & cash handling functions of the organisation to ensure that income is received and processed in a timely manner, financial data is accurate and the service provided to the departments is of a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure high quality invoices are prepared efficiently and to timetable and all details including VAT treatment are correct
- Oversight of cash advances system across the organisation
- Perform reconciliations and analysis as directed and to timetable
- Liaise with the management accounts team to ensure financial information is timely and accurate and issues are identified, followed up and resolved
- Identify errors and inconsistencies in General Ledger data and prepare correcting journals
- Evaluate and recommend ways to improve procedures, processes and controls to line manager and other team members
- Provide cover for other Finance Officers as required under direction of the Finance Manager
- Ensure Donations information as recorded in Raiser’s Edge is accurate and reconciles to donation income as recorded in Agresso
Key Requirements:
- Excellent Excel skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Good understanding of HMRC VAT guidance relating to Sales and Purchases
- Robust experience of maintaining consistency and accuracy in processing a high volume of transactions
- Ability to juggle conflicting demands and prioritise workload appropriately, reliably reporting any issues or concerns at an early stage and proposing solutions
