Interim Financial Controller required immediately
Location: South West (Fully Remote)
Contract Type: 6 months
Hours: 37.5 hours (Mon-Fri)
Daily Rate: £400 via Umbrella

This is a very important role to lead the delivery of a high performing, customer focused Local Authority finance department and provide comprehensive financial advice to all levels of management to ensure the company produces statutory information including the Annual Report and Accounts reflecting appropriate accounting and financial reporting standards
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the provision of effective, timely and accurate financial performance information on a regular and consistent basis across the financial cycle to enable achievement of underlying business objectives
- Lead, manage and motivate a team of finance professionals
- Accountable for improving financial awareness and capability across the company to promote a culture empowering budget holders, personal responsibility and accountability; and supporting delivery of value for money services
- Responsible for providing expert advice on the interpretation of financial information and associated assessment of financial risk to drive the development and implementation of financial sustainability
- Ensure all financial systems that interface with the company are reconciled, for example but not only, Debtor and Creditor control accounts
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax-related regulations, including be responsible for liaising with HMRC
- To liaise with the auditors and provide them with all the necessary document and support to facilitate the audit process
- Lead the monthly and annual financial reporting cycles ensuring the production of comprehensive management accounts and annual reporting
- Ensure the integrity of financial data on the IT platforms and use the information to produce regular and ad hoc reporting
- Ensure that the Board is well and fully informed on all aspects of the functioning of the Company including proactively advising the Board of risks to the organisation
- Ensure current assets and liabilities are managed consistently with cash flow requirements
Desirable Skills:
- Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA accountant 3+ year’s PQE
- Experience of system implementation
- Strong leadership and communication skills
