Governance Manager
Location: remote working
Length of contract: 3 months (with possibility of extension)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
A Central Government organisation is seeking a Governance and Secretariat Manager to come in and take responsibility for the secretariat function and supporting business partners to deliver organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain a system of governance that provides timely assurance to each Director and the organisation on business plan activities and performance against targets
- Manage the forward programme of SLT and other internal governance meetings, ensuring that they are focused on the delivery of business objectives and strategic development
- Responsible for effective risk management and assurance of the organisation’s risk portfolio including maintenance of the organisational assurance map
- Work closely with the Project and Programme Lead on the development of project and programme management across the organisation
- In conjunction with the Chair, manage the forward programme of Audit and Risk Assurance Committee meetings, ensuring papers are prepared and distributed to timescales
- Manage the forward programme of Panel of Advisors meetings ensuring they are focussed on strategic developments and deliveries
- Lead on the collation of papers for regular accountability meetings with our sponsor Department and build an effective relationship with their sponsorship team
- Responsible for the staff management of the Project & Programme Lead, and two Performance & Business Information Analysts
- Responsible for designing and maintaining the system of portfolio governance through the effective running of Senior Leadership Team and Directorate team
- Provide oversight of project management and operational data to ensure deliveries and performance remain on track against targets
Key Requirements:
- Experience of working in corporate governance, particularly in a Central Government setting
- Proficient and highly practiced in the coordination and administration of corporate and senior level organisational meetings
- Management of procedures to ensure accurate compilation of agendas, the production of comprehensive and accurate minutes and meeting actions to set deadlines
- Proven ability of prioritising and organising a large, complex and busy workload with substantial experience of planning activities for self, for direct reports and for a team
- Experience of risk management and risk assurance
- Knowledge of applications and databases used for managing documents
- Substantial experience of preparing proposals, briefings, presentations, reports, and other documentation and providing management information both verbally and in report format
