About the Role

As a key member of our governance team, reporting to the Company Secretary, Governance & Regulation Manager you will:-

Lead on the Group’s data protection culture and compliance through training & awareness, maintaining our framework of policies & processes and providing specialist advice & support on information rights requests, data sharing, retention & the full range of day to day queries in these areas.
Be able to present status, audit and incident reports at senior executive and board level.
Implement, maintain and audit robust information and data handling standards and procedures.
Maintain the Group’s various internal data protection registers, privacy notices and leading on internal/external communications plus relationships with stakeholders.
Provide an effective and efficient audit function of the Group’s Information Governance Framework, activities, practices, action trackers and key performance indicators.
Ensure data integrity and information validation across the Group.
Act as the primary contact for data protection queries internally and externally.

About You

You will have the following skills and/or experience :

Degree level education or equivalent through training and/or demonstrated experience
Relevant data protection and/or privacy qualification(s) eg CIPP, CIPT, ISEB
Previous professional experience working as a DPO (ideally in a regulated or third sector organisation)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical, complex issues to non-specialist staff at a variety of levels and drafting clear and concise written reports.
