We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking for an experienced Head of Service - Quality Assurance & Review (Children Services) to join their team.
You will lead the strategic development of quality assurance, performance, practice improvement and workforce development across Children’s Services, ensuring high-quality, safeguarding-focused services that deliver positive outcomes for children and young people. Provide expert leadership, oversight and challenge to drive continuous improvement, service excellence, regulatory compliance and readiness for inspection across the organisation and wider partnerships.

Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week
Duration: 4.5 Months
Start date: ASAP
Site presence: 2-3 days on site
Role Details
- Lead and develop Quality Assurance, Performance, Reviewing Services, Practice Development and Academy functions across Children's Services
- Develop and implement quality assurance frameworks, improvement plans, audits, inspections and performance monitoring processes
- Provide strategic leadership to drive service improvement, safeguarding excellence and positive outcomes for children and families
- Act as a senior advisor to leaders, elected members, regulators and partner agencies on practice, performance and quality matters
- Lead inspection preparation and management, including Ofsted activity, evidence gathering and improvement planning
- Oversee budgets, resources and workforce development to ensure services deliver value for money and meet statutory requirements
- Analyse performance data, audit findings and feedback to identify priorities and support continuous improvement
- Represent the organisation at local, regional and national forums, building effective partnerships and influencing service development
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Significant senior leadership experience within Children's Social Care service
- Proven experience leading service improvement, transformation programmes and quality assurance frameworks
- Strong understanding of children's social care legislation, safeguarding requirements, policy and regulatory frameworks
- Experience managing budgets, resources and delivering best value services
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and partnership-working skills within complex environments
- Experience writing strategies, policies, business cases and presenting complex information to varied audiences
- Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive performance and organisational change
