Health & Safety Manager
Location: Cornwall
Length: 3 months, temporary ongoing
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Mon – Fri
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Be responsible for the strategic leadership, development and delivery of Health & Safety and manual handling services
- Provide concise, timely and impartial advice, guidance and support to managers and staff to ensure the effectiveness of the organisations arrangements for promoting safe environments and work activities
- Act as the senior competent person in Health & Safety to provide knowledge and skills to assist in the generation of a positive Health & Safety culture throughout
- Continuously work towards the implementation of HSG 65 and external requirements under Care Quality Commission outcomes
- Develop and deliver the organisations Health & Safety strategy ensuring that there are safe systems of work and processes in place
- Lead on a programme which systematically recognises, reports, analyses and evaluates Health & Safety throughout the organisation
- Provide advice on developing systems to proactively manage risks to staff
- Provide highly specialist advice to the investigation process as appropriate
- Work closely with the Director responsible for Health & Safety, Director of Corporate Affairs, Strategy and Assurance, Service Line Managers, Team Managers and other operational staff to ensure that all services meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and its regulations in relation to the organisations undertaking
Essential requirements:
- Experience of working within a similar position within a commercial environment
- Hold a degree or other relevant Health & Safety qualifications; specifically NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
- Previously managed staff with a demonstrable record of improving standards
