Housing Options Assistant

Our client, a well-respected local authority in Greater Bristol, is looking for a Housing Options Assistant to provide front-line housing advice and homelessness services to those seeking a home in the area.
Locations: Greater Bristol
Duration: 4 Months +
Hours: 37 (Mon – Fri)
Rate: £19.73 via Umbrella

Day to day responsibilities include:
- Conduct the assessment of all customers approaching for housing advice, in housing need and identify those coming under homelessness provisions
- Verify legal rights of occupation, and collate all information available from any representatives and/or agencies to help inform a housing plan, including referrals for specialist help and support, and priority for supported housing places
- Act as the key point of contact during the assessment phase
- Hold a caseload, conclude homelessness applications and make other appropriate applications for housing
- Gain access to relevant specialist advice or support services in order to resolve their problem/s and prevent homelessness
- Where homelessness cannot be prevented, determine where cases are to be referred for more intensive casework
- Make safeguarding referrals as appropriate when there are any concerns about the safety or welfare of any adult or child
- Keep accurate and up to date records and update systems as required
- Carry out home visits to customers where appropriate
Essential job requirements:
- Relevant qualification e.g. NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- IT skills and experience of non-standard software packages and bespoke databases
- A current enhanced DBS
