Human Factors Engineer

A position has arisen for a Human Factors Engineer within a large Defence organisation based in Bristol. This role entails conducting Human Factors Integration activities through the development lifecycle providing progressive assurance to the customer, adhering to required Defence standards.
Successful candidates must have a valid SC clearance
Your duties will include:

Analysis and assessment of the role of the operator within the weapon system including, system command and control and integration into physical workspaces (including use of CAD tools)

Defining HF requirements and development and maintenance of lower level detailed specifications (e.g. HMI/HCI)

Conducting user trials supporting system verification taking into account operator workload and situational awareness
Essential requirements:

A valid SC clearance

Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF)

Substantial & demonstrable understanding of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering preferably in a Defence context

Strong working knowledge of Defence Standards (00-251)

Application of HF in the system lifecyle including (HFI, Task analysis, HCI specification, user trials and experimentation, physical ergonomics)

Use of CAD software such as Jack

Use of User Interface prototyping tools such as Axure

Strong understanding of Systems Engineering and disciplines that interact with Human Factors (Supportability, Training, Systems) including definition and verification of HF requirements.

Strong Human Factors experience within the Defence sector
