Interim Capital Accountant
Our client, a well-respected public sector body in Plymouth, is looking for a Capital Accountant to come on board on a temporary basis for a 3 month contract. The Capital Accountant will identify the full accounting impacts of the transition to IFRS16, implement the new monitoring and reporting requirements through the ledger and the fixed asset register and to complete all associated IFRS16 returns.
Location: Plymouth
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Length of Contract: 3 Months
Hourly Rate: £25.40 -£27.30 via Umbrella

Day to Day Duties:
- Provide support to the Chief Financial Accountant, Associate Director of Finance and Financial Controller in ensuring the provision of accurate and timely management information in respect of leases
- Develop and maintain right first time financial systems and processes to meet the needs of the Capital Accounting function with respect to IFRS16
- Provide advice to stakeholders with regards to capital accounting and associated financial regulations and procedures complaint with IFRS16
- Ensure the accuracy of the Trust’s Capital Asset Register (ensuring compliance with IFRS16)
- Maintain the accuracy of the Trust’s Finance Lease Register (ensuring compliance with IFRS16)
- Liaise with procurement, estates and other key stakeholder to identify all existing and new leases and assess the impact of IFRS16
- Ensure that the financial implications of IFRS16 are effectively communicated to all parties who need to be aware of them at a level of detail necessary to their needs, including the revenue consequences of capital investment
- Provide training all parties who need to be aware of IFRS16 impacts in assessing and maintaining IFRS16 compliance for new leases
- Prepare and present papers and appendices for the Finance, Performance and Investment Committee, Trust Board and NHSEI detailing the impact of IFRS16 transition
- Using a broad range of financial techniques/processes and utilising specialist knowledge of complex accounting regulations and relevant legislation, produce timely and accurate monthly financial reports on the capital programme, both at summary and individual project level
Essential Skills:
- Extensive accountancy experience within the public sector
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel)
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) or significant QBE
- Experience liaising with Internal and External Auditors
