Interim Director of Legal and Governance and Monitoring Officer – 3-6 Months – Remote Working – Midlands – up to £800 per day
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with an established organisation within Local Government in the Midlands area who are recruiting for an Interim Director of Legal and Governance and Monitoring Officer to join their department.
The organisation are ideally seeking someone to take on the position on a full-time basis but candidates possessing the relevant experience who can only offer part-time hours may also be considered.
This assignment is offered for a period of 3-6 Months to cover permanent recruitmentand will be worked on a fully remote basis for the foreseeable future, however an element of office presence may be required in accordance with Government guidelines.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Director of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer to join a reputable Public Sector Organisation.
The successful candidate will need to be an experienced MO and Legal Lead within the Public Sector, with a good grasp of governance issues and have the ability to deal with senior staff and politicians with credibility. Experience working in an environment with a range of large and complex commercial and infrastructure projects and procurement would be an advantage.
Responsibilities may include:

Acting as Principal Legal Advisor to the senior Members, and Officers of the organisation on all legal, governance or information governance matters as required

Providing practical, timely and accurate legal advice on all aspects of the operation of the organisation with particular regard to managing risks, both financial, reputational and political

Ensuring appropriate debt recovery management arrangements are operated within the organisation

Providing support to the Organisational Development Team regarding complex employment law matters

Liaising with Managers to support the delivery of advice and assistance across all areas of Governance, to meet the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives in compliance with legislative and governance requirements

Fulfilling the role of Chief Audit Executive hence handling a range of audit governance procedures

Managing litigation proceedings, tribunals and hearings
An attractive rate of up to £750 - £800 per day is offered for this position.
