Interim Head of Leaders Office
Location: London (currently remote)
Length: 3 months initially, pending permanent recruitment

One of our local authority clients is recruiting for an Interim Head of Leader’s Office to take responsibility for the running of the office and providing professional support to the Leader of the Council. This is a wide ranging and demanding role which requires a lot of diplomacy and people skills, so experience of working into very senior members of staff is essential.
The key components will include:
- Leading and managing the Leadership Team Office comprising the Leader of the Council’s Office and ensuring strong joint working between the Leader’s Office, Cabinet, Management Board and the rest of the Council
- Direct and lead the team that to ensure efficient delivery of leader’s initiatives
- Managing key relationships and responses to complex professional or politically sensitive issues
- Ensuring the effective day to day running of the office, managing diaries and ensuring the Leader receive correct briefings in a timely manner for key meetings
- Managing a team of two staff and providing training and development where necessary
Experience required:
- Previous experience of operating in a similar role with evidence of specialist knowledge of running a Leader’s Office
- Excellent interpersonal, persuasion and negotiating skills
- Experienced in working closely with, advising and influencing members, senior officers and stakeholders
- Resilient in the face of contradicting priorities and able to manage and motivate staff
- Previous local government experience
