Interim Procurement Managers
Location: Remote 3 days / Sussex 2 days
Contract Length: 3 months initially
Venn Group is supporting a local authority in recruiting for two Interim Procurement Managers to manage end to end procurement and contract management activities associated with tender management and contract management disciplines. The council has adopted a category-led approach and the Interim Procurement Managers will primarily support the “Resources” and “Place” category teams.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Procurement Managers
- Manage and support on projects and sub-categories and be responsible for contributions to a category which currently spends £180M - £200M across c. 300 plus suppliers
- Significant spend in sub-categories of highways, construction and waste in the Place category and areas of professional services, IT, Fleet, FM, HR, Financial services and consultancy in the Resources Category
- Utilise and manoeuvre through councils e-tendering portals
- Deliver value for money outcomes through effective and compliant procurement processes
- Interpret internal procurement procedures and provide relevant advice to enquirers
- Communicate effectively with relevant sectors and directorates and offer alternative strategies to achieve cashable savings
- Implement the category strategy through proactive management of programmes and projects involving multiple stakeholders and teams
Skills and experience required of the Interim Procurement Managers:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to draft basic specifications from scratch
- Experienced in working in a range of procurement roles within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Understanding of supplier management and can demonstrate management of a supplier over time, tracking SLA's and compliance
- Demonstrate an understanding of the latest sub-category area of expertise - shares knowledge where appropriate
- Experience of using e-tendering portals
