Interim Strategic Director of People
We have an exciting new opportunity for an “Interim Strategic Director of People”, that is working with a well-established Council in the Midlands. This role will hold the statutory position of ‘Director for Adults Social Services’.
Our client is looking for a candidate who has worked at Director level within Local Government, and has a background in Adult Social Services and Health.
As the Strategic Director of People, you will have a number of direct reports including the Assistant Director of Commissioning Adults as well as the Assistant Director of Communities. Please see below for some further information on the duties:
As Strategic Director for People you will be responsible for:
- The statutory obligations of the Director of Adult Social Services
- Acting as the commissioner for the Council’s Wholly Owner Council Company
- Ensuring the Council’s compliance with the relevant statutory obligations and statutory guidance relating to vulnerable adults
- Ensuring that these obligations and responsibilities, including appropriate training, are complied with by the directorate as well as internal and external commissioned providers
- Defining, developing, procuring, managing and evaluating the range of services for which the post-holder is responsible
- Ensuring the continual improvement of the services for which the post-holder is responsible, setting clear priorities and targets and intervening where necessary in order to maintain standards of performance
- Keeping abreast of new developments in order to anticipate and define the Council’s strategies and responsibilities in the areas for which the post-holder is responsible
- Assessing local needs and ensuring availability and delivery of a full range of adult social services

Duration: 6 month role initially with further extensions available
Rate: Competitive daily rates available (Inside IR35)
Working pattern: Please note this roles will work on a ‘Hybrid working model’, which means there will be some expectation to be onsite in the offices on a weekly basis and to be on-call on weekends (this will be on a rota)
