Venn Group are seeking a skilled User Experience Designer to lead the redesign of local authority client’s website, and to act as an advocate for user-centred and accessible design within the organisation.
The Interim User Experience Designer will work with the design, development, online operations and communications teams to embed good UX practices and reusable patterns for UX to ensure it becomes embedded in the platform lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing skills and expertise of internal resources through a training programme or coaching scheme
- Review the homepage usability, navigation, search and effectiveness of the current home page and work produce a report on findings
- Identify and create key personas and document associated key user journeys for these personas to the homepage and for other key journeys from the homepage
- Work with designers and developers to create user stories and documentation for the development phase
- Propose new home page design/layout/ content and functional changes based on findings
- Create low and high fidelity mock-ups for proposed options
- Carry out A/B testing and test workshops with key users and stakeholders
- Directly work with stakeholders to test and refine main homepage to ensure a fully accessible and responsive homepage
Skills and experience required:
- Extensive experience in designing and delivering dynamic web offerings
- Public sector experience, particularly local government, is highly desirable
- Expert in designing accessible sites and products to WCAG 2.1
- Experienced in using products such as Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Visio, Sketch and InVision/Figma
- Excellent communication skills for working with service users and blended teams
