Internal Communications Officer
Based in London
Length: 3 months initially
A local authority in London is recruiting for an Internal Communications Officer to embark on a new project to revitalise their work on quality, diversity and inclusion and create a new action plan to embed at the forefront of who the council are. Alongside this a review into how the business-as-usual internal communications is approached with a look towards more meaningful two-way engagement with the staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all staff have access to a range of internal communications so they can keep up to date with important council news, share information and raise concerns
- Work with departments to ensure new programmes, events and initiatives are well communicated and attended
- Manage the compilation and distribution of the internal staff newsletter, including writing, and editing content, arranging photography, overseeing design
- Consult with staff across the council to gain their views on council internal communications and their suggestions for improvements
- Work with HR to organise and manage webinars and training events for staff to learn more about the council's corporate objectives, or other departments within the council
Skills and experience required:
- Strong innovative and creative skills with the ability to create engaging content for internal communications channels – digital, print and face to face
- Excellent copy writing skills with the ability to create clear and compelling content for a variety of internal communications channels
- Excellent editing skills with accuracy and attention for detail
- Strong digital skills including web, photography, video, picture and video editing
- Ability to develop and evaluate communications plans and campaigns for a range of internal audiences
- A professional qualification in internal communications from a recognised provider and/or a minimum of three years’ experience in internal communications
