Salary: £13-£14 per hour inclusive of holiday pay
Venn Group’s specialised education and academic strategy team are excited to be recruiting for a Learning Mentor based in the Warwickshire. This role will be offering £13-£14 per hour inclusive of holiday pay.
Outline duties below
- Supporting students within their learning programmes and help them towards achieving independence (knowledge of supporting students with SEND needs)
- The majority of the time will be spent with identified students in the classroom, and online mentoring sessions on specific subjects
- There will be a requirement to undertake administrative tasks relating to recording student progress and supporting student retention and achievement
- Providing support in-class or mentoring support outside the classroom and some personal care as directed by the Head of Department for Supported Learning
- Assisting the class lecturer with the preparation of materials or activities for named student use
- Promoting and supporting independent learning
- To be a key worker for a designated number of students who have EHCP’s and support the SEN Team Leader in the annual review process
- Working closely with the Personal Tutor/Personal Learning Adviser to ensure that individual student targets are being monitored and reviewed
- In conjunction with the Personal Tutor/Personal Learning Adviser, maintain a system to record named student progress
- With knowledge/permission of Personal Tutor/Personal Learning Adviser, make contact with parents, either by telephone or in writing where appropriate
- Acting as a trouble-shooter and work with the students to ensure they meet deadlines and catch-up on any missed work
- Attending department team meetings
- Undertaking training and development as required
- Accompanying and supporting students during work experience placements and/or trips both on and off site if appropriate
- Undertaking administrative duties which will include keeping own record book, completing cause for concern forms, updating tutors with student progress report and completing regular student support/progress reviews
- Working collaboratively with College staff to produce Individual Risk Assessment, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans and Medical Protocols
- Contributing to student reports if required
