Locum Litigation & Regulatory Lawyer – Remote Working – up to £55 per hour Umbrella– Thames Valley
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Litigation & Regulatory Lawyer to join an excellent Public Sector Organisation in the Thames Valley Region.
This assignment will be for an initial period of 3-6 months subject to likely possible extension thereafter. The ideal candidate would work full-time on a predominately remote working basis however occasional attendance to Court in the Thames Valley area would be preferred. Candidates that have the relevant experience but can only work on a part-time basis may also be considered.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and will have a broad working understanding of Litigation to deal with a varied caseload. This position will suit candidates that have experience of conducting their own advocacy as attending court hearings will be required.
Duties may include:
- Providing legal advice to members and officers of the Council, in relation predominantly, but not exclusively to the following areas of legal practice: Licensing law, (including taxis and private hire, alcohol licensing, entertainment and premises licensing, gambling and gaming licensing) Community and Environment / Public Protection, including environmental health, environmental protection, public health and food and safety
- Handling a mixture of Local Authority Prosecution and Litigation matters, general Civil and Criminal Litigation matters including attending and advising decision-making bodies of the Council as required
- Dealing with matters in relation to Private sector housing enforcement work (including enforcement relating to Houses in Multiple Occupation)
- Caseload may also include Insurance law (including areas such as personal injury, negligence, defective premises, occupiers’ liability, employers’ liability and public liability), Debt Recovery, Contract disputes and Judicial review
An attractive hourly rate of up to £55 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependant on experience.
