Locum Research Contracts Manager – Midlands – 3 Months+ – Remote Working – up to £40 per hour (umbrella)
Venn Group’s Specialist Legal Team is excited to be recruiting for a Research Contracts Manager to join one of Britain’s leading Universities. The University and their academic and research staff work both nationally and internationally on research and development for the benefit of hundreds of organisations each year. This position will be carried out on an all remote basis for the foreseeable future however office presence may be required in line with government guidance.
Ideally, the client would prefer for this position to be worked on a full-time basis but part-time candidates possessing relevant experience will also be considered.
This excellent opportunity offers an hourly rate of between £30 - £40 (umbrella) dependant on experience.
The department that you will be working in supports researchers in working together to achieve excellence and delivering on the University’s vision for research and innovation. The primary focus of the work will be enabling the research activities of the University whilst mitigating and protecting against contractual risk.
Duties may include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating research contracts (e.g. collaboration agreements, DSA, CDA, MTA, studentships)
Reviewing and negotiating a diverse portfolio of research and consultancy contracts and agreements for national and international clients on behalf of the University, based on non-standard terms and conditions, ensuring they comply with current legislation and internal policies and procedures, protecting the University from unreasonable risks. Manage and maintain records to provide a clear audit trail and accessibility for management information.
Working pro-actively with employees at all levels across the University and with external stakeholders to ensure that research and consultancy contracts and agreements are correctly understood and that risks are mitigated.
This position is suited to Contracts Specialists who are keen to develop their knowledge as part of a small, knowledgeable team within the department. It is essential that you possess a background of working in a similar position within the Higher Education sector.
