Occupational Therapy Assistant
Duration: Temporary, 3 months
Location: Staffordshire
Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
Rate: £12.88 via an umbrella company
Venn Group is currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant on behalf of a reputable NHS Trust based in Staffordshire. This is an interim contract for 3 months offering £12.88 via an umbrella company. For this position, you will be working full-time hours, some home working can be involved.
Outline duties below:
• Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues across the spectrum of conditions, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served
• Working with registered staff to provide as service for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Partnership Trust including the community and hospitals.
• Working under the direction of registered practitioner the post holder will be skilled in undertaking delegated tasks
• Supporting the registered practitioner in the preparation and delivery of treatment programmes including administrative duties
• Adhering to the Care Certificate standards and all other relevant guidance from the Partnership Trust
• Aware of the Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) guidance/codes of conduct and those of Royal Collage of Occupational Therapists (COT)
• Implementing programs of treatment for individuals, families under the guidance of a registered practitioner
• Treatment plans may include the following:
o Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety
o Increasing functional ability
o Improving health and wellbeing including mental health
o Interventions in disease/condition management
o Prevention and reducing health inequalities
o Contribute to Palliative and end of life care
• Considering each service user’s personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement programs of care and intervention
• Maintaining and developing skills and knowledge to deliver a range of interventions under the guidance of a registered practitioner and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing
• To work with individuals and Carers who may find it difficult to engage with the service resulting in uncooperative or challenging behavior that has to be managed
• To apply skills, knowledge and competences to recognise any significant change in the holistic needs of the service user/Carer and feedback to the registered practitioner
• To take responsibility for the safe use of transportation of equipment between locations. This may involve demonstrating the safe use of equipment to clients and Carers. This is a significant part of the job role and will involve frequent moving and handling of patients and equipment with a wide spectrum of needs
• To work in non-purpose built rooms involving the necessity to move furniture, therapy equipment etc., including home visits. This may be required on a daily basis or at least once a week
