Outreach Worker – Urgently Required
Our client, a reputable local authority, is urgently seeking an experienced Outreach Worker. The role will require a passionate individual with experience in providing practical and emotional support to rough sleepers.
Position: Outreach Worker
Period: 2 months with possible extension
Hours: 35 hours a week
Location: Essex
DBS: Enhanced (preferably on the update service)
Rate: Dependent on experience
Duties for this role will include:

Providing an outreach service in Essex by engaging and supporting rough sleepers which are mainly single homeless males

Receiving referrals from Street Link and going out to verify them and signpost them to support services

Providing information and advice on services available and assistance exploring housing options

Seeking resettlement and move on options for long term rough sleepers

Conducting risk assessments and developing support plans, while managing a caseload of about 15

Providing information and advice on available support services in order to help long term rough sleepers seek resettlement

Managing a caseload, ensuring they are effectively supported and creating client centred support plans, risk assessments and needs assessments.

Delivering a multi-agency approach in order to reduce rough sleeping within the council

Identifying high complex needs clients with mental health issues or substance misuse issues and being able to signpost and refer them to the appropriate services
Essential requirements:

Previous experience of lone working in a support work capacity

You will have experience in dealing with rough sleepers with multiple needs and able to work with challenging behaviour

Up to date knowledge of Housing and Homelessness Legislation in addition to knowledge of criminal legislation

Access to own vehicle with business insurance
