Senior Public Health Officer (Grade 5)
The role will support the Service Lead and provide senior support to define and manage projects to reduce health inequalities in the city. You will be coordinating and influencing work to improve the health and wellbeing of groups who often face significant barriers to accessing mainstream services such as homeless individuals and migrants. This will involve using your proven public health and managerial skills to work in partnership across organisational boundaries to embed health and wellbeing into wider agendas.
You will also be developing public health policies and strategies that initiate evidence based actions to reduce health inequalities. There are some exciting opportunities to apply your skills in using data and evidence to have an impact, which includes developing a framework for addressing health inequalities through a number of existing programmes and strategies, and then working with partners to act on the opportunities identified.
Skills & Experience:
This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who:
- Has a substantial experience of working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in supporting Public Health outcomes
- Understands the role that the health and wellbeing board can play to improve health and wellbeing and tackle health inequalities
- Has demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Public Health priorities and relevant policy environment
- Has substantial experience of developing and coordinating the delivery of major change projects/ programmes in complex and challenging environments
- Has strong people management skills and experience in developing staff through both formal and informal opportunities
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills and substantial experience in writing programme plans and partnership strategies
- Is able to learn and adapt, and can make a confident start in this role quickly
Public Health Officer (Grade 4)
The role will provide support to define and manage projects to reduce health inequalities in the city. You will be coordinating and influencing work to improve the health and wellbeing of groups who often face significant barriers to accessing mainstream services such as homeless individuals and migrants. This will involve using your proven public health and project management skills to work in partnership across organisational boundaries to deliver key health inequalities initiatives.
You will also be consolidating public health evidence and data and using it to develop project proposals and action plans to reduce health inequalities.
Skills & Experience:
This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who:
- Has experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders in supporting Public Health outcomes
- Understands the role of public health and other organisations in tackling health inequalities
- Has excellent organisational skills and is able to work independently to achieve expected outcomes and outputs
- Has experience of developing and coordinating delivery of complex projects
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in writing briefings, reports, project specifications and plans
- Is able to learn and adapt and can make a confident start in this role quickly
