Public Protection Manager – Public Protection Service
We are currently working with a well-established organisation who are looking for the interim support of a Public Protection Manager to assist with the operational management of the Public Protection Service.
Role Responsibilities:
- To ensure the services are delivered in line with all statutory and legal requirements
- Maintain a high level of professional competence, knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legal practices, procedures and issues for those service areas within the responsibility of the post holder
- Support and advise members of the Council, Cabinet, Scrutiny and other meetings on relevant matters
- Develop and coordinate the effective implementation of strategies and policies relevant to the service areas
- Lead and deliver key projects, ensuring they meet strategic objectives
- Manage, motivate and provide leadership, being accountable for performance and ensuring high standards and professionalism are maintained
- Take responsibility for the preparation, implementation and efficient delivery of the Service Plan
- Actively develop a performance culture, ensuring the services achieve the agreed targets in the Corporate Plan and Service Plan
- Manage allocated budgets in accordance with the Council’s financial rules and regulations, and maximise revenue generating opportunities
- Ensure arrangements are in place for regular staff one to one meetings and that annual appraisal are conducted
- Provide operational support to the corporate health and safety function when required
- Develop and maintain professional relationships and effective partnerships with a range of services and agencies, at a local and regional level
- Work with relevant partners to provide flood related advice and support wider policy development
- Produce agreed and ad hoc management information/reporting and statutory reporting
- Deputise for the Assistant Director as may be required
- Take part in the out of hours service dealing with a broad range of issues
Start: Immediate with interviews taking place next week
Duration: Three month contract initially
Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience
