Purchasing Officer
Duration: 12 month initial contract
Location: Home Working- Midlands based
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, flexibility if needed, 37.5 hours
Salary: £21,748
An opening has arisen for a Purchasing Officer, on a fixed term contract, working from home in the Midlands. This position will require candidates with experience in a purchasing role previously, ideally within a facilities management capacity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Processing requisitions and e-forms
- Raise Purchase Orders and amendments as required
- Authorising orders (Value to be determined)
- Place credit card orders
- Obtaining quotes for orders valued between £3k and £30k and obtain approval from budget holder before placing the Purchase Order
- Utilising electronic sourcing tools to obtain quotes e.g. Multi quote
- Renewing low value contracts
- Maintaining the Electronic Catalogue and adding and deleting products/prices as required
- Evaluating supplier performance
- Escalating recurring problems to the appropriate Contract Manager
- Chasing late deliveries and goods receipting
- Reporting (Standard and ad-hoc) as required by the Contract Managers
- Scanning and electronically filing all tendering related documents and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
- Maintaining approved lists – Needs specialist knowledge to do credit checks, obtain references, insurance details, conduct Health and Safety checks etc. Would need to manage the rotation of suppliers for tendering purposes
- Placing stock orders based upon re-order reports
- Assisting Contract Managers with the evaluation of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ’s)
- Assisting with the administration of any future electronic tendering system
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar role
- Strong IT and administration skills
- Effective communications skills to include report writing and presenting information
- Stakeholder management skills – including the ability to maintain effective relationships with internal & external relationships
