A few highly desirable positions have become open for Research Grant Officer’s who are looking for their next permanent opportunity. The positions are based at a leading London based University.
The post holders will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of a portfolio of research grants. They will be expected to work closely with the Manager of Pre- and Post-Award Teams and other colleagues in the Department, to develop and implement improved systems and processes to secure and manage a growing research income portfolio.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide front line support and advice to the organisation and their host departments in the development and submission of high-quality applications for external funding
- Proactively identify and promote available funding opportunities (primarily research-related / institutional capacity)-strengthening and knowledge exchange activities)
- Coordinate bid development (including the costing of projects and ensuring that internal approval processes are followed prior to submission)
- Work closely with others in the Department to provide ongoing advice and support to award-holders on elements of post-award grant management
- Contribute to the preparation of analysis and reports, including analysis of trends as well as narrative and financial reports
- Responsible for carrying out due diligence in the context of externally funded research applications and awards
- Ensure compliance with other Funders’ and regulatory requirements
- Take responsibility for the operational delivery and management of particular bids and tasks as identified by the role holder’s manager
- Take a pro-active role in identifying and promoting available funding opportunities as well as working closely with researchers and their host departments to match funding opportunities to their interests, strengths, and priorities
Person Specification:
- Previous experience of working within the UK HE Sector
- Experience of research grant management
- Knowledge of research grant costing methodologies and administration including the application of fEC and major funders’ (e.g. EC and UKRI) rules
- Knowledge of the external research grant funding environment
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Excellent numeracy skills and solid working knowledge of Excel
