Vacancy – Senior Debt Advisor
Location: Birmingham (With the potential to change i.e. working from home)
Length: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay: From £31,048 per annual
Venn Group are currently recruiting for experienced Senior debt advisor to oversee a team of five debt advice workers. Said candidate will need to have solid debt experience, payment plans and also be able to work a debt case from start to finish. The desirable candidate would also be available at short notice to start the permanent post.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Manage a team of Debt Advisors working across the main hubs and satellite units within the regions and this will involve case-working a number of clients
- Provide support and guidance to the Debt Advisors in a way that will help clients to reduce their social exclusion and play a full role in developing their independence
- Be knowledgeable on benefits, available support services, in order to advise and guide the Debt Advisors in order to support clients in making well informed and realistic decisions.
- Liaise with a number of organisations which will include, the courts, Enforcement units, collection agencies, bailiff’s solicitors and general creditors in order to provide support and guidance to the team and clients
- Hold responsibility for the day to day management of a team including the setting of objectives and allocation of roles and the provision of direction including recruitment and retention, staff development and performance management
- Assist clients in completing benefit checkers to determine their eligibility for benefits entitlement and signposting to access benefits and specialist benefit support agencies. Building effective relationships with external agencies to maintain good relationships and maximise successful outcomes and share good practice
- Work closely with local stakeholders and agencies including National Probation Service
- Keep records efficiently and in line with the needs and requirements of the prime contractor, HMPPS and with Group policies and procedures
- Report interventions, communications and outcomes as required, including relevant systems and updating paperwork
- Update information sharing and case conferencing with any relevant financial support agencies in the local area
- Work closely with local stakeholders and agencies including National Probation Service
Essential experience/requirements:
- Previous experience in a related role
- A full UK drivers’ license and access to a vehicle
