Permanent Senior Payroll Officer required immediately
A position has arisen for a Payroll Officer within an NHS organisation in Cornwall. This would be a Permanent assignment to lead a team within Cornwall NHS Trusts Payroll Services and take responsibility for all aspects of payroll and staff expenses work, ensuring that staff are paid accurately and promptly.

Your duties will include:
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all agendas for change and medical & dental conditions of service and any locally agreed procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of statutory payments such as PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Paternity Pay, etc
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of the Staff Travel Policy, subsistence, mileage rates and taxation rules
- Manage a team with minimal supervision including the allocation and monitoring of work to team members, supervise and train staff to ensure effective cover during periods of annual leave and other absence periods
- Organise workload to ensure monthly and weekly deadlines are met
- Liaised with staff and managers at all levels to maintain standards and ensure the continued effectiveness of the section
- Assist staff, managers, HR and external organisations with queries relating to pay by telephone, in writing and in person
- Balance and reconcile various Salary Sacrifice Schemes
Essential:
- Excellent payroll systems knowledge
- Previously worked within the NHS
- ESR experience
Desirable:
- CIPP
