Service Accountant Immediately Required
Our client, a prestigious local authority in the South West, is looking for a Service Accountant to come on board for an initial minimum 6 month contract to provide maternity cover and this is likely to be extended beyond this. Past 6 months contract will be reviewed month by month basis.
Location: South West (Fully Remote)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Contract Length: 6 months + (Maternity Cover)
Daily Rate: £18.85 - £19.98 via Umbrella

Day to Day Duties:
- To be the lead accountant for the Council in respect of the provision of management accounting across a range of services providing financial advice and guidance on issues including: preparation of budgets; budget monitoring; production of Outturn statements, adhering to deadlines set by the Deputy CFO; capital monitoring; financial advice and support
- To undertake technical research and advise management as appropriate
- To regularly attend committee and other meetings representing Finance
- To prepare reports and project evaluations, financial and otherwise, within agreed timescales
- To consider and develop quality management initiatives in conjunction with the Finance Service Management Team
- To manage strategic, corporate and unit projects as required within agreed timescales
- Such other duties as may be required from time to time
Essential Skills:
- CCAB Qualified
- Wide knowledge and understanding of Local Government finance, with a good understanding of accounting standards and codes of practice
