Child Protection Co-Coordinator/Social Work Team Manager
Duration: 6 months
Location: London
Clearance Required: Basic DBS/BPSS – willing to undertake SC clearance
A Central Government department is seeking a Child Protection Co-Coordinator/Social Work Team Manager to line manage and professionally supervise a team of Social Workers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance on cases for Investigations and to guide this work by writing child protection strategies to ensure that all child protection issues are considered and in line with best practice
- Attend multi agency meetings and strategy discussions to ensure decision making is in the best interest of children/victims
- Contribute to the out of hour’s service offering advice to the organisation’s control center; this involves speaking to children to ensure they are safeguarded during evenings and weekends (on a rota basis) and report to statutory agencies if required
- Provide child protection input to a range of activities which may include advising on legislation, policy and/or tactical options to assist in the planning and implementation of relevant operations
- Develop specialist knowledge of child sexual abuse and exploitation and represent the Investigations Command externally at conferences and forums
- Contribute to the development of organisational policies and strategies including business plans
Key Requirements:
- Experience of working with and communicating effectively with children, parents and professionals
- Knowledge of advising parents and children regarding online safety
- Knowledge of relevant statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families including all relevant legislation and guidance
- Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate information in order to undertake specialist assessments of children’s needs
- Experience of the supervision and line management of social workers
- Ability to draft reports and express ideas clearly in writing
