Supported Living Housing Officer

A Supported Living organisation in Somerset is looking for a temporary to permanent Housing Officer to join their team in delivering general housing management duties to vulnerable adults at risk of homelessness
Locations: Somerset
Duration: 3 months (Temp to Perm)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Shift basis from 8am-3pm and 3pm-10pm
Rate: £11.50 – £12 per hour

Day to day responsibilities include:
- Support a caseload of clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to develop their independence, maintain their accommodation and find suitable alternative housing
- Carry out tenancy sign ups with new tenants and conduct settling in visits
- Lead on the void management of empty rooms and responsible for the lettings process
- Provide support and advice on how to access benefits and Universal Credit, support clients to maximise income and reduce rent arrears
- Manage the rent arrears process, issue warning letters and attend evictions
- Provide advice and support on the phone and face to face with customers
- Carry out health and safety checks and monitor the CCTV
- Report maintenance issues
- Liaise and work closely with local authorities, police and external support services
- Signpost clients to receive further help with mental health and substance misuse issues
- Carry out health and safety and wellbeing checks
Essential job requirements:
- A current enhanced DBS
- Knowledge and background of supporting rough sleepers or those who are homeless
- A driver with access to their own car
Desirable job requirements:
- Background in supporting complex needs clients
