Weekend Support Worker (Homelessness) Urgently Required
Duration: Temporary Contracts
Location: Coventry
Hours: 11:00am – 20:00pm (Saturday & Sunday)
Pay Rate: £12.00 Inclusive of Holiday Pay
An opening has arisen for a Support Worker for a homeless charity in Coventry. This position will require candidates with a strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure as the post shall be lone working.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and protecting the safety and security of the premises whilst having a supportive presence to residents
- Maintaining a visible presence in and around the building
- Delivering housing related support regarding benefits and welfare
- Responding to the needs of clients and residents as required
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the property and being mindful of any health and safety issues
- Conducting security checks and report security breaches and building damage
- Reporting issues relating to the personal security and safety of residents to the appropriate support staff
- Experience of supporting vulnerable individuals and those who are homeless/facing homelessness
- Encouraging individuals to make better lifestyle choices, such as: attending support sessions relating to money, housing and substance addiction
- Liaising with other agencies such as Drug and Alcohol services to encourage tailored support
- Managing risk effectively by observing guidelines for safer working through relevant policies and procedures
- Establishing positive working relationships with clients to facilitate their engagement with homeless services
- Undertaking initial risk assessments including Section 188 assessments in line with local authority procedures
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS
- Previous experience working in this position
