Job Description

Venn Group is currently recruiting for a Communications Specialist on behalf of a reputable Public Sector organisation based in Nottingham

This is a temporary contract for 1 – 2 weeks (ongoing), offering an hourly rate of £20.16 inclusive of holiday pay (PAYE) or £22.94 via an umbrella company

The successful candidate will have generalist communications experience within the public sector

Duties include:

  • Designing and delivering communications activity using the full communications and marketing mix to support service delivery and priorities
  • Leading on the day-to-day media relations activity to include writing and approving press releases, preparing briefings for external stakeholders and co-ordinating visits and official openings
  • Working in partnership with internal stakeholders to advise, influence and support on communications issues as required
  • Writing communications strategies for specific projects and advising on reactive and high-profile media issues
  • Supporting internal, external and digital communications requirements
  • Developing media campaigns for both external and internal audience, directing on messaging, creatives and evaluations
  • Developing messaging for different audiences and stakeholders
  • Responding to media requests on issues which are often sensitive and highly complex
  • Handling enquiries from members of the public, patients, partner agencies and the media
  • Contributing to the production of publications by researching, writing and editing articles and providing photographs
  • Developing and maintaining the organisation’s web and social media presence
  • Supporting the strategic co-ordination of the organisation’s communications and marketing activity, contributing to the proactive forward-planning for all channels
  • Working with other members of the team to develop, maintain and promote effective and inclusive internal communications systems and mechanisms for staff recognition, involvement and engagement
  • Managing and updating social media channels with content and copy to include Facebook and Twitter
  • Assisting with the production of internal and external publications
