Venn Group are currently recruiting for two Commissioning Managers for Education & SEND
with a large public sector organisation in the South West.

Location: Wiltshire

Duration: 5 months initially

Rate: £450/day umbrella

IR35 status: Inside IR35

Education Commissioner

Responsibilities:

  • Bring together a strategic overview of education including local authority maintained schools, academies, free schools, early year’s settings, childcare and childminders and commissions activity to ensure sufficient provision and the promotion of high standards of attainment.  This includes educational standards and quality, educational place planning, school admissions and specialist educational provision
  • Strategic accountability for standards of attainment and quality of provision in local authority maintained schools
  • Strategic accountability for the statutory responsibility to ensure the local authority provides sufficient school places and childcare to meet demand
  • Strategic accountability for the effective co-ordination of admissions where it is provided and local authority compliance with the national code of admissions

Required experience:

  • Successful extensive previous management experience in a school or local authority setting
  • Experience of building teams and managing variable workloads
  • Experience of developing synergies and partnerships within an organisation and with external partner

 SEND Commissioner

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and commissioning of special education in the area, including place planning, admission arrangements and quality, standards and progress for children and young people up to the age of 19 in schools
  • Manage the successful implementation of reforms in provision for children, young people and adults from 0 to 25 years of age with SEN and Disability, working closely with other service providers
  • Support the Head of Education and the Head of Finance and Strategic Programmes, by providing advice and policy leadership in relation to the special educational needs aspects of local formula for the Dedicated School Grant, and manage the High Needs budget effectively
  • Help to integrate education, skills, health, social care and economic development strategy and practice, working in collaboration with internal and external colleagues to provide excellent and aligned services

Required Experience:

  • A wide breadth of senior leadership/ management experience and knowledge in school/academy and SEN and Disability sector or service
  • Experience of building teams and managing variable workloads
  • Experience of working collaboratively and influencing a variety of external partners, groups and organisations to ensure mutual outcomes
