Job Description

Due to extension within the department, a position has arisen for anEnvironmental Advisor within a leading Nuclear Decommissioning Site in the South West of Scotland. This is a long term contract with a well-respected nuclear decommissioning organisation.


The successful candidate will be responsible for

  • Providing autoreactive advice on environmental and waste matters

  • Supporting best practical means (BPM/BAT), best practical environmental options (BPEO) and ALARP assessments for projects

  • Ensuring work is progressed in line with company policy and IRR as appropriate

  • Advising on and developing methods of decontamination and waste minimisation

  • Advising on the environmental and/or radioactive waste aspects in preparation of safety case submissions

  • Providing advice to senior authorised persons on environmental/waste safety requirements


Required candidate experience:

  • Hold or be able to obtain SC clearance

  • Experience of working on a Nuclear Licenced Site

  • Knowledge of Radioactive Substances

  • Knowledge of ISO14001

  • Accredited Health Physicist


Desirable candidate experience:

  • Qualified Radiation Protection Advisor (IRR 2000 certification)

  • Direct involvement in a Radiological Environment
