Temporary Hospital Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a temporary Hospital Engineer to work within a large hospital based in the East of England area. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to be extended thereafter. You will hold a senior role within the Estates department overseeing mechanical, electrical and fabric works across the whole site.

Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for supervising and controlling the engineering specialty of a broad range of complex works and systems at any one time
  • Responsible for engineering across a large hospital site including BMS, HV/LV electrical systems, mechanical systems, building systems, CAFM systems, ground and any other essential service to hospital function and patient welfare
  • Assist with the development of infrastructure strategies across the Trust such as standards, introduction and implementation of new systems/processes and other policies for engineering maintenance, working closely with the capital projects team
  • Ensure that the Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards of the Trust and of the Estates and Facilities Department are adhered to at all times
  • Provide detailed professional technical advice to staff and contractors on issues that are complex and non-routine relating to the infrastructure and associated plant and equipment
  • Maintain full and complete records of all works including records related to contract PPMs and reactive works, data management of information from the Building Maintenance System and PPM database information
  • This role is required to participate in the Estates On-call Rota


The successful candidate should have:

  • The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in electrical, mechanical or building services engineering or will have equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Ideally you will have in depth knowledge of applicable guidance for example HTM, HBN, HTN and other applicable guidance or best practice
  • Please note that a DBS will be required for this position
