Job Description

Homelessness Prevention Manager – Urgently Required

Our client, a reputable local authority, is urgently looking for and an experienced Homelessness Prevention Manager to lead their team. The role will require someone who is passionate about preventing homelessness and will who work on delivering new solutions to prevent homelessness by offering advice and options as early as possible in the process.

Position:          Homelessness Prevention Manager  

Period:            6 months with possible extension

Shifts:              Monday to Friday

Hours:             35 hours a week

Location:         London

Rate:               £200-£250 per hour

Duties for this role will include:

  • Implementing the new housing duties as outlined in the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and put in place performance measures to review its impact on clients and services

  • Creating and delivering a wide range of homeless prevention initiatives as well as lead and manage assessment of housing needs in accordance with all legislative requirements

  • Managing a number of teams comprising of housing advisers, supported accommodation officers and private rented officers providing expert housing options and advice services

  • Planning and managing the implementation of a new service within a complex and high risk service area comprising of front line and other services

  • Creating and delivering a service to all housing clients, ensuring that access to the front-line service is effectively managed so that all those who need an assessment receive a service which is in line with statutory provisions and legislation

  • Implementing a risk management programme and advising on issues affecting council service areas

Essential requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a local authority and proven ability to lead a team in a customer focussed homelessness setting

  • Up to date knowledge of Housing and Homelessness Legislation and ability to handle complex cases

  • Ability to review a service to ensure the highest level or service is delivered and ability to communicate effectively to a broad range of stakeholders
