Locum Prosecutions Lawyer – £35 to £45 per hour – West Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are recruiting for a Locum Prosecutions Lawyer at a Local Authority based for the West Midlands.

This role is for an initial 3-month period on a part time, 3 days a week basis,with possibility of flexible working.

Applications are welcome from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives with relevant experience; ideally gained from within local government.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Handling a range of Prosecutions matters including education (fixed penalty notices, s444 offences), regulatory offences (HSE, fly-tipping, surveillance powers and Coroner’s Court cases) and environmental matters (unauthorised encampments (successfully prosecuting travellers), food hygiene, household waste notices and obtaining Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Orders)

  • Attending taxi licensing sub-committees

  • Handling the criminal aspect of highways matters

  • Managing Health and safety offences

  • Liaising with and advise a variety of stakeholders

  • Providing advice to Councillors in relation to GDPR and particularly in respect of Community Protection Notices

  • Attending GDPR meeting with Councillors
