Job Description

Multiple Permanent Positions Senior Engineer – Banking

Venn Group are working with a global bank in London to advance their Global IT Programme. We are recruiting for Senior Engineer positions on a permanent basis who will be responsible for various aspects of the programme, providing SME knowledge to the wider business, working amongst diverse teams, and assuming ownership of budgets and resources.

Senior Engineer – VMWare

One of the positions will focus on VMWare virtualisation, requiring the candidate to analyse and monitor progress of the virtualisation as required, mitigating risks and adapting plans as required.

It would be advantageous if applicants came from Financial Services backgrounds, however comparable experience working within regulated environments whilst working as a VMWare SME would also be applicable.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing the implementation of VMWare technologies, such as vCentre, ESXi, or other applicable technologies.

The candidate must demonstrate excellent networking knowledge, specifically understanding TCP/IP, DNS, and will have knowledge of storage protocols (storage – SAN, NAS, associated protocols).

This varied position entails the candidate being responsible for a variety of projects, from troubleshooting to systems patching, implementing upgrades to acting as a VMWare SME.

Currently, VMWare v. 6.7 is in use and therefore experience working with this version, or earlier versions, is essential.

Other highly desirable technical knowledge includes having an exposure to converged enterprise platforms (VxBlock/VxRail/VxRack/FlexPod, or others).

This position will require occasional travel to datacentres based in the South East.

Communicating effectively with diverse and global teams will be integral to the success of many projects undertaken, and therefore requires candidates who balances technical knowledge with interpersonal skills.

The bank currently uses Windows client/server operating systems and utilises a global network of Senior Engineers, each working in conjunction with another, so candidates with the proven ability to synchronise projects to deadlines would do well in this position.

Senior Engineer – Citrix

This position is similarly situated within the bank’s Global IT Programme, and involves direct and regular liaison with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders across jurisdictions. This position sits within the Client Computing team and focusses on the end to end lifecycle management of critical infrastructure related to Citrix and the delivery of associated application delivery technologies.

Individuals with extensive Financial Services backgrounds will be preferred for this position, owing to their familiarity with banking environments. Candidates should be able to demonstrate examples of previously taking ownership for Citrix infrastructure projects in a Senior Engineer capacity.

This individual will ultimately be responsible for the full oversight of the architecture and engineering of conceptual builds, taking responsibility for introducing new technologies and platforms to the relevant factions within the organisation.

This position requires the candidate to ensure coordinated efforts are maintained across the Client Computing team by utilising their knowledge of VDA, MS SQL, VDA, Xendesktop, and other equivalent areas.

The candidate should also good knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) design principles (DMZ, Load Balancing); they should also have good knowledge of scripting /automation technologies – Powershell, Orchestrator.

Many of the responsibilities in this role revolve around troubleshooting Citrix-related issues, and therefore requires individuals to have experience prioritising tasks and requests, responding to queries, investigating issues, and liaise with vendors regularly.

This position requires consistent and detailed communication with both team members and stakeholders, and therefore requires the candidate to have excellent communication skills and experience advancing transnational projects.

This candidate should have Good knowledge of Ivanti AppSense Products, knowledge of scripting and automation technologies, and advanced troubleshooting skills.

To explore either of the above opportunities, contact the Financial Services team at Venn Group. Send your CV to fsops@venngroup.com and call on 020 7557 7667.
