Naval Ship Outfit Engineer

Our client, a leading Defence organisation, urgently require an experienced Engineer to undertake a defined range of Wholeship-Outfit activities including Outfit systems, compartment design and integration activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements

In order to be successful, it is essential that you have the following experience:

 

  • Knowledge and experience of naval and/or commercial ship outfit systems

  • Outfit includes the design or operation of: Deck coverings, Coatings, Insulation & Linings, Accommodation and Wet Spaces, Medical, Ship’s Access & Escape (i.e. doors, hatches, ladders. etc.), Evacuation & Lifesaving, removal routes, Commissariat, Galley & Laundry, Offices, Stores (incl. refrigerated) & Workshops, Human Factors awareness, Damage Control & Portable Firefighting, Equipment Procurement Packs, Rule sets: Def. Standards, Lloyds, Naval Rules, Compartment and Product Safety

  • Experience in Engineering or a Defence related industry

  • Strong understanding of Detail Design Requirements as immediate customer in Engineering Lifecycle

  • Working towards the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council

 

Desirable experience:

  • Experience with AutoCAD or FORAN

 

Within this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing Layout Drawings for Outfit compartments for review by stakeholders

  • Updating Windchill PLM with mature parts, systems, occurrences and compartment data to ensure it correctly presents the baseline design

  • Preparing technical equipment specifications; develop designs in line with all specifications and standards and co-ordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification

  • Supporting HAZIDs and Safety Reviews and Support Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews

  • Developing ship design specifications under guidance and carry out Engineering Design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, examples being development of outfit packages and general arrangements

  • Participating fully in developing, maintaining and modifying Outfit processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational needs
